5 small cans of tomato paste
3 onions, chopped
3 bay leaves
3 tsp oregano
1 tsp fennell
3 tsp fresh basil, chopped
3 Tbsp salt
1 tsp black pepper
1 tsp garlic powder, or use fresh (3)
1/4 C olive oil
1/4 C sugar
lemon juice
Bring to a boil. Let thicken to desired consistency. Add 2 Tbsp lemon juice per quart, or 1 Tbsp per pint. Boil in bottles in bath canner 40 min.
